First Day at Khud

The purpose of Khud Initiative is to empower future generations of Pakistan to become self-sufficient and self-reliant. This ideology is genuinely reflected in the name 'Khud' itself, which means 'self' in Urdu. We aim to equip children with advanced skills for the 21st century.

The increasing levels of internet penetration and its potential are slowly being exploited in Pakistan. While Pakistan contributes its fair share to the freelance economy, there is still an immense potential that can be untapped with some effort. A significant bottleneck in the expansion of the freelance economy is the lack of specific skillset, including, computer skills and language barriers among the mass population. Khud curriculum identified these barriers to entry and took the responsibility to overcome these at the level of schools.

What makes Khud a success is a passion and energy which the kids bring to the classroom. This zeal helps us reach for ultimate perfection in our work and encourage us to make ourselves better continually. Our interns who serve as our biggest strength and who help us improve with each field observation define Khud as:

"Khud makes it possible for them to think out of the box while firmly believing that the only sky is the limit."

One of our interns who works as a freelance content writer identifies a lack of essential skillset among the population as a significant reason for them not being able to transcend their impoverished backgrounds. She defines her experience at Khud as that of realization and understanding of the seriousness of issues that persist in our society.

We hope and thrive for excellence in our work where every incremental step helps us break a social barrier every day.
